Renato Carneiro video breakdown

Renato “Moicano” Carneiro is a Brazilian #4 ranked Featherweight in the UFC. He has fought as a pro since 2010 and made a name for himself fighting all over his home country of Brazil. He has been vocal, along with Amanda Nunes, Paulo Costa and others about being the “next generation” of Brazilian greats in mixed martial arts.

Moicano (a nickname from childhood, due to his Mohawk hairstyle. Though it dates back to BC times, the literal translation of Moicano is Mohawk. Mohegan or Mohican) is a wonderful study in MMA striking concepts I have been preaching longest and loudest; Leg Kicks, usage and variance of the jab. And the ability to move backwards well and evasion via said movement post offence. He is also a Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Alex Leleco, and a Black Prajioud (the “armband”) in Muay Thai.

Similar To Max Holloway

At 5’11” with a 72″ reach, Renato has similar dimensions, and perhaps style to a Max Holloway. Notably, he was beating #1 Contender Brian Ortega before oddly shooting for a takedown in the third round. Right into the absurdity that was T City’s guillotine for his first and only career loss.

Recently coming off a spectacular performance against Cub Swanson. I want to focus mostly on his jabs leg kicks and ability to move backward correctly. Enjoy, cheers.
