ESPN’s Brett Okamoto stated on Monday, January 30, 2023, that the rising British fighter, Allen, will headline his second consecutive Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event on April 15, 2023. Max Holloway (23-7), the former featherweight champion, will be his opponent in a fight that will take place over the course of five rounds. There is currently no information available to confirm the location of the key 145-pound tilt.
Allen recently disclosed that he was given the opportunity to compete in the co-main event of UFC 286 against a guy who “everyone was expecting.” Because of his injuries, Allen was unable to make his planned homecoming performance in London, England, on March 18, 2023. This was very unfortunate for “Almighty.”
To his good fortune, he is still receiving the major opportunity, and a victory would very certainly guarantee him a crack at the championship, bringing the total number of consecutive victories he has racked up to 13. (11 in UFC).
On the other hand, Holloway will try to get back on top after suffering a third defeat at the hands of the current divisional champ, Alexander Volkanovski, in July of 2022. Since he became featherweight champion in December 2016, Holloway has appeared to be nearly unbeatable in every fight he’s fought at that weight. He has won every one of those bouts (with the obvious exception of his Volkanovksi trilogy).
Holloway’s bout with Allen will be the tenth time that Holloway has served as the main event of a UFC show.
