Both Marina Rodriguez and Virna Jandiroba are considered to be among the best in the world at their respective weight classes and have decided to compete against one another inside the Octagon at UFC 288 on May 6.
The UFC has not yet disclosed the location or venue for the event, which will also include Aljamain Sterling’s fight against Henry Cejudo as the main event, as well as the return of Charles Oliveira, who will compete against Beneil Dariush.
Rodriguez and Jandiroba are ranked sixth and eleventh, respectively, in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings at 115 pounds for their weight class.
Following a four-fight winning streak that included victories over Amanda Ribas, Michelle Waterson-Gomez, Mackenzie Dern, and Yan Xiaonan, Rodriguez lost via third-round knockout to Amanda Lemos in November.
Jandiroba was victorious over Angela Hill in their bout that took place in the octagon in May 2022. In UFC competition, the former Invicta FC champion has a 4-3 record. During the process of finalizing the Rodriguez fight, she signed a new contract with the promoters that will see her compete in four bouts.
