UFC 210 Daniel Cormier vs. Anthony Johnson Countdown
UFC 210 Countdown goes inside the lives and gyms of four athletes preparing for pivotal battles. Light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier braces for a rematch, against the man he first defeated for his title, power puncher Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. The hard-hitting one-time welterweight fighter who has taken the light heavyweight division by storm.
The pair first faced off at UFC 187, where Johnson did everything in his power to stop DC. But against a man of Cormier’s calibre, throwing everything except the kitchen sink at him in the early rounds may not be the best gameplan. The result saw Cormier repeatedly taking Rumble down, wearing him down and beating him down. Until he was able to secure back position in round three and submit the game opponent.
Cormier vs Johnson UFC 210
Taking his loss onboard, Anthony Johnson wet back to the drawing board. As he searched for a way to improve his skills inside the cage to once again make a run at the title. And with three straight knockout finishes in his next three matches. He would once again eventually find himself back in the same position. But this time around there would be a title on the line.
For Daniel Cormier, there will be no complacency when it comes to this fight. As some have assumed that having faced and defeated the same opponent already, he may take him more lightly this time around. But for Cormier, he is treating this fight as though it is the first time facing Anthony inside the UFC octagon. And with that, he is training as hard for this fight as any other.
Having had to dig deep against Alexander Gustaffson, Cormier feels as though he knows himself better than ever. And that a fighter such as Johnson doesn’t have what it takes to beat this newer version of DC. But Johnson is a man who is thinking in the same way. Having learned so much since they last fought, this fight won’t go the same as their previous outing. And that the UFC will be seeing a new light heavyweight champion at UFC 210.
Will Cormier be able to avoid the big punches of Rumble to secure the win? Or will Anthony Johnson do as he has promised and defeat the division’s number one contender? It’s all to play for as these fighters prepared to put it all on the line at UFC 210, April 8th 2017 from Buffalo New York.
