Miocic vs Overeem UFC 203 Full Fight
UFC Heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic made his first UFC title defence in his hometown of Cleveland Ohio at UFC 203. Against the former k1, Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem. Miocic looks once again meets another former champion Junior Dos Santos on May 13. As he seeks to maintain his number one status in the heavyweight division.
But in this fight against Overeem, regarded by many as one of the most accomplished fighters in all combat sports. This is a true test for the new champion as Overeem seeks to climb back to the top of the hill where heat for so many years. And while Stipe has much less experience at the highest of levels. Few can dispute his heart and talent inside the octagon.
In front of his home town crowd, would Miocic fold under the pressure or shine for the Cleveland faithful? It was s true trial by fire for the Croatian American and a fight which delivered several memorable moments and even generated some memes.
A Wobbly Start By Stipe Miocic
Following a wobbly start by the champion and a did he didn’t he tap moment. He was soon back on his horse and backing up the challenger in a tit for tat frenetic first round. As we saw Overeem trying to avoid many of Miocic’s big shots while landing several good shots of his own, again stunning the champion.
It would not be until later in the first that Miocic would manage to get Overeem to the ground. Then standing upright in his guard, the champion managed to split the defence of Alistair and land several punches right on the chin, first stunning, then knocking Overeem out cold.
It was an awesome display of championship pedigree from Stipe Miocic on home soil. And a difficult loss for Overeem who was once again so close to yet another championship belt. How long will the champion reign in a stacked division with may up and comers nipping at his heels, we will have to wait and see?
