UFC heavyweight Jon Jones is of the opinion that Alex Pereira will win the rematch for the belt against Nigerian-born Israel Adesanya on April 9.
At UFC 281, last year, Pereira won the middleweight championship with a technical knockout victory against his long-time opponent Adesanya. This victory shocked the entire UFC lovers and the world at large. It was a highly interesting fight that featured two of the top kickboxers in the combat sports industry going head-to-head against one another in the contest.
The Brazilian fighter was behind on the scorecards going into the fifth round, but by dogged determination and heavy hands, he was able to steal the victory from his opponent.
As a result of Pereira’s victory over Israel Adesanya, he now holds a 3-0 advantage in their unofficial head-to-head competition. This comes after Pereira had previously won two kickboxing matches against the Nigerian-New Zealander fighter.
Jones stated in an interview with MMA Junkie that he does not anticipate a different result the second time around as he believes that the Brazilian has Adesanya’s “number.”
