Grasso vs. Shevchenko: The Trilogy Beckons Amid Hand Injuries and Controversy

Grasso Vs. Shevchenko

Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko both suffered hand injuries during their rematch at Noche UFC in September. Grasso recently announced via Instagram that she underwent successful surgery for her fractured hand. Initially, Grasso didn’t consider the injury serious, but she later realized she couldn’t return to training without proper treatment.

In her post, Grasso mentioned her readiness for a trilogy fight with Shevchenko. The two fighters have expressed interest in a third bout. Grasso had previously pulled off an upset victory over Shevchenko at UFC 285 to claim the flyweight belt. Their second fight ended in a controversial split draw, with one judge awarding Grasso a 10-8 score in the fifth round, which raised questions about the scoring consistency.

While there are other deserving contenders in the flyweight division, such as Erin Blanchfield and Manon Fiorot, the timing of Grasso and Shevchenko’s injuries may align well for a potential third title fight between them.
