George St Pierre not sure if he will return
The UFC middleweight champion Georges St Pierre, answers the question about him returning to defend his title. Making the move up from welterweight to middleweight to take on Michael Bisping. The former undisputed 170 lb champion piled on the pounds in order to compete.
St Pierre’s contract stipulates that he would have to defend the 185 lb title, should he win. But now a dose of colitis has seemingly got him singing another tune. With him stating that he believes his drive to pile on the pounds has led to his body overreacting.
Known as a fighter who is always clinical in his preparation. And a person who always puts his health first. St Pierre may very well be signalling a reluctance to defend his belt. How this will play out is yet to be known. But some confirmation either way will no doubt give some clarity in a division which right now seems slightly confused.
Should the champion make the decision to not defend at middleweight? That obviously opens up the question, what will he do? And with welterweight champion Tyron Woodley pondering a move up to 185 lb’s to face St Pierre. How will this situation affect his decision making? A lot to ponder as we await GSP’s final decision and word from UFC President Dana White.
