Gennady Golovkin Against Daniel Jacobs
We prepare for what boxing purists are calling the most anticipated fight in a decade. As Canelo Alvarez of Mexico faces Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan, in a fight many years in the making. So now we take a look back at Golovkin’s last unanimous decision win over Daniel Jacobs at madison square Garden New York. Which took place in their March 18, 2017.
Golovkin entered the competition the hot favourite. Against the hometown undefeated fighter Jacobs. From the outset of the bout, it was obvious from the crowd’s reaction that many were there to see. The hard-hitting man from the far east extended his undefeated record to 37 wins, with 33 knockouts.
However, GGG was not going to have it all his own way. As the much heavier fighter on the night. Jacobs very much brought the fight to the World Champion, exchanging much of the time inside the pocket with the KO artist.
Golovkin was made to work harder than in most of his fights to impose his will on the taller heavier Jacobs. Ensuring that he would emerge from the competition victorious.
Following on from his win over Kell Brook, who traditionally fights at middleweight. Golovkin was hit a lot by the skilled boxer before stopping his opponent in the later rounds. The question on many people’s minds going into this fight was! How will he fare against an equally skilled much larger true middleweight fighter?
Golovkin vs Saul Alvarez
All the questions were answered, yet at the same time did leave some questions. Now he faces Saul Alvarez (Canelo). Who will without be the most skilled and seasoned opponent he has ever faced inside the ring.
Boxing fans are truly hyped for what they see as the true biggest fight in recent years. As the action takes place Saturday, Sept. 16. Live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. The location for another huge fight which recently took place, but the names involved seemed to have slipped my mind!
