FREDDIE ROACH VS GREG HAUGEN 1985
World-renowned boxing coach Freddie Roach is a trainer who put his money where he mouth was. The famed wild card boxing gym head coach is known for training many great fighters. Including world champions Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya.
Roach is also well known in MMA circles for training a number of fighters including the former UFC heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski. Former Middleweight champ ‘The Spider’ Anderson Silva, ‘The Prodigy’ BJ Penn. And probably most notable is his relationship with the former welterweight champion Georges Saint Pierre. Who he has coached both in terms of boxing, while also being heavily involved in the negotiations for Saint Pierre to make his long-awaited return to the UFC octagon.
Here we see Freddie Roach taking on one-time training partner Greg Haugen back in 1985. Roach would go on to fight 5 times after this fight before finally retiring and going on to be one of the most successful coaches in boxing. Having managed several World champions, today Roach has another fight on his hands in the form of Parkinson’s disease. One of the nicest people in the sport today that you will find!
