Francis Ngannou – Best (Heavyweight) Prospect in MMA?

Is Francis Ngannou The Best UFC Heavyweight Prospect?

Is Francis Ngannou the best heavyweight prospect in Mixed Martial Arts?  Many have said that this dude could be a future champion, but will he live up to peoples expectations? With such a fascinating backstory and an obvious athletic ability inside the UFC octagon. Will he be able to exercise his demons and become the UFC heavyweight champion?

Well, everything looked very good for the six-foot four-inch man from Cameroon. Entering the UFC he had one blemish on his relatively short record. But went on to make an instant impact in the division. Blasting his way past and through some of the biggest names in the sport. Including former UFC heavyweight champion Andre Arlovski, as well as former Strikeforce champion Alistair Overeem.

His devastating win over The Reem would see him earn a heavyweight title fight against the current champion Stipe Miocic. In a fight where he did have some opportunities. Ngannou was eventually shit out by the champion and a lesson was learned. But was it too much too soon for the challenger?

His next bout against a tough Derrick Lewis would see him yet again fall short. And it has to be said not quite look the same as he was either unwilling or unable to pull the trigger. Handing a unanimous points decision win to The Black Beast and somewhat diminishing his perceived status in the division.

Rematching Ngannou vs Blaydes

Rematching against Curtis Blaydes at UFC Fight Night 141. Ngannou looked to get back on track and rekindle fans interest in his title run. And with a win over Blaydes, then the destruction of the former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez. Followed by a quick knockout of another former champion Junior Dos Santos.

Francis had finally got back in his stride, as he looked to solidify his position at the top of the contender’s list. But one more name in Jairzinho Rozenstruik stood in his way. The guy who had recently clobbered Alistair Overeem and now wanted to do the same to Francis Ngannou.

But it would be the Cameroonian who would come out on top with a scary twenty second KO. And a callout for a rematch against the champ Miocic. But with Stipe scheduled its time on the sideline for Francis, who mus now simply sit and wait his turn.

Let’s sit back and watch Brendan Dorman break down his take on the heavy-hitting heavyweight contender. Can NGannou be the best heavyweight in the UFC, only time will tell.
