Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos doesn’t see much of a chance for Francis Ngannou in his upcoming boxing match against Tyson Fury. While Dos Santos acknowledges Ngannou’s power and strength, he believes Ngannou lacks the quality of boxing skills needed to compete effectively against a seasoned boxer like Fury.
Dos Santos sees the fight as “very interesting” for Fury due to Ngannou’s hype and popularity in MMA. However, he likens the bout to Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor, where Mayweather dominated despite McGregor’s MMA background. Dos Santos expects Fury to put on a show for fans and slowly break down Ngannou over the course of the fight.
He emphasizes that while a fight is a fight, the transition to boxing is challenging, especially when facing an experienced boxer like Fury who is accustomed to 12-round bouts. Dos Santos believes that Ngannou’s best chance is to rush forward in the early rounds and utilize his power but warns that waiting too long could lead to an unfavorable outcome.
Dos Santos gives Fury a significant advantage, with a 95 percent chance of winning, while Ngannou has a five percent chance, mainly due to his MMA background and his punching power. However, he acknowledges that boxing is a different discipline, and strategy will play a crucial role in the outcome of the fight.
