It’s hard to exactly pinpoint where the disdain of Dominick Cruz for Team Alpha male began. But it’s something which the former bantamweight champions carries with him to this very day. Here he is making his UFC debut at UFC 132 where he earned the bantamweight belt after beating Urijah Faber by decision. Don’t miss The Dominator who faces former Team Alpha Male standout TJ Dillashaw at UFC Fight Night Boston on January 17th.

But before that happens, let us take a look back at their second fight which took place back in 2011. Four years after their previous fight under the WEC banner, now the tables have turned. As Cruz is now the bantamweight champion with the Ultimate Fighting Championships. While the former WEC champion, Faber enters the fight as the challenger.

Cruz vs Faber Part two

So this was the opportunity for Dominick Cruz to reclaim the loss he had when they first met. And from the beginning of the fight, we can see the development in Cruz’s game from the previous outing. The movement for which he has become increasingly known for has since been improved upon. More feints, more teasing strikes, gauging distance and a takedown defence which was not as evident in their first bout.

With a six years gap in age between the two, Urijah is by far the more seasoned fighter. But in this rematch, we can now see how Cruz has changed up his game. And of course, gone on to be crowned the UFC champion while doing so.

So let us look back at this part two in a three-part saga between these two elite-level fighters. As The Dominator and The California Kid show the world why they were ranked one and two. Can he manage to hold on to his belt against the former number one in the world? Let’s watch and find out!
