Daniel Cormier & Khabib Nurmagomedov Behind the walls of AKA
We stumbled across this excellent piece by Neruda productions. Which goes Behind the Walls of American Kickboxing Academy – AKA in San Jose California. The host gets one on one interviews with the founder of AKA Javier Mendez. Mendez goes into detail about his gym, it’s fighters and friendships. Working together as a single unit and why this relatively small group are so good and so successful.
We also get some great time with the UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. Along with his gym buddy, top lightweight contender Khabib Nurmagomedov. It’s easy to see that these guys have a bond and feed off each others sense of humour. DC talks about his time in Dagestan, getting poked in the eye and punching some random guy out. It’s a story his trusty sidekick Khabib doesn’t buy into. Giving his own explanation of what actually went on. And his countrymen’s respect for the champ.
Khabib talks about his move to AKA back in 2012, his fight camps and his love for his Team. All of this while he and Cormier fool around during their practice sessions. While the next generation of American wrestler’s, who are being personally trained and paid for by Cormier out of his own pocket, look on. But it’s great to see Khabib and Daniel side by side, playing off one another as they often do. Two teammates who have bonded during their time at AKA. And now good friends as well as training partners. Some quality from the guys and gals at Behind the Walls, keep it coming.
