Daniel Cormier vs Alexander Gustafsson UFC 192 Countdown
Countdown to UFC 192 takes you inside the training camps and lives of six stars as they prepare for life-changing matchups. UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier seeks to cement his legacy. With a title defence against striker Alexander Gustafsson.
Daniel Cormier is looking forward to the next stage in his career. As he looks to defeat the tough Swede and top contender The Mauler, Alexander Gustafsson. Always improving, DC is a fighter who just keeps getting better and better. To date defeating all challengers to his 205 lb title.
And in Gustafsson, he faces a tall lanky striker who he says is even better for him, giving him longer legs to shoot for and a taller target to hit. But Gus is a crafty fighter who brings his own unique set of skills to the cage. Having already faced the previous division champion, Jon Jones, taking him down twice. The first time that has ever happened in his career. So there can be little doubting the Swede is a huge threat to Cormier’s championship.
Johny Hendricks vs Tyron Woodley welterweight Matchup
Hard-hitting Johny Hendricks looks to get back to welterweight title contention. As he takes on powerful wrestler Tyron Woodley, who has his own dreams of UFC gold. While Hendricks lost his title to Robbie Lawler, Tyron is still a fighter who has yet to clinch gold in the division. And coming up against the former 170 lb champion gives him the opportunity to move one step closer and finally realise his dream.
Looking at the division Woodley believes that Hendricks will be his toughest test. And if he can get the win, it will signal that he is on his way to becoming the world champ. Yet this won’t be the first time the pair have competed. As both previously met in college wrestling with Johny winning their match. Ever since then Tyron has wanted to punch Hendricks in the face to settle the score and now he gets his chance.
But with Johny viciously knocking out the majority of his opponents along the way. Tyron will need to bring his A-game in order to shut down the powerful wrestler turned striker.
All this along with two winners of The Ultimate Fighter, as Rashad Evans returns against Ryan Bader. Some pivotal fights in the UFC to work out where things stand in two of the divisions. It’s Cormier vs Gustafsson for the title at UFC 192, this weekend live from the Toyota Centre in Houston Texas.
