Conor McGregor | The Notorious Rise: Instagram Chronicles 2013 – 2017

The Conor McGregor Instagram 2013 – 2017

There can be no doubting the role social media has played in the rise of UFC champion Conor McGregor. Since he first set up his Instagram back in 2013, the lightweight Champion’s rise has unfolded in front of our very eyes.

It’s been a very carefully choreographed dance with the fans and media since day one. And as his fame has grown, so too has his social media focus evolved. It took some time before Conor’s social media game fully matured and mainly through the Instagram platform. Which allowed him to the ability to carefully craft his persona via visual cues.

Starting out, his main focus was on fighting. This began to change, however, as his name grew ever larger in the sport. And he along with other celebrities sought mutual adoration. As Conor’s star was in the ascent, so were his monthly outgoings. Purchasing a whole raft of bright and shiny new toys for his now lavish lifestyle.

Already having established himself as a global sporting star. Conor looked to build his brand in the world of fashion. As something which had always played an important role in his public image. Now became a key part of his business empire.

Since the announcement of his fight with Floyd Mayweather, McGregor’s posts seem to have gone full circle. As he once again posts more about training and fighting, like he first did when first joining the platform. Perhaps it shows where his mind is? Or maybe it’s just marketing for the fight? Only Conor knows the answer to that question.

The Infographic

This fascinating rise told through the visual power of Instagram, has now been documented chronologically by the guys at Betway Insider. Who has created a very cool infographic which analysed each and every post since McGregor first set up the account back in 2013.

Make sure to check it out as it is very cool indeed. Plus you have to give some props to the poor sod who did all the leg work on this one, sifting through each and every one of the 1,200+ posts! Well done you, sir.
