Canelo Alvarez vs. Amir Khan is scheduled to take place on May 7, 2016, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas for the WBC, Ring magazine and lineal middleweight titles. It is scheduled to be the first major sporting event at the new T-Mobile Arena.

“Canelo” Álvarez, is a Mexican boxer. He is the current lineal, The Ring, and WBC middleweight champion, as well as a former WBC, WBA and The Ring light middleweight champion. He is currently ranked the best pound-for-pound boxer by BoxRec.

Amir Khan is a British boxer. He is a former unified WBA and IBF light-welterweight champion and currently holds the WBC Silver welterweight title. As an amateur, Khan won a silver medal in the lightweight division and became Britain’s youngest boxing medalist at the age of 17. He is also one of the youngest ever British world champions, winning the WBA light-welterweight title at the age of 22.

The International Business Times ranked him as the 8th best pound for pound boxer in 2011, and he is currently ranked the 13th best pound for pound boxer by BoxRec. As of May 2016, Khan is ranked by The Ring magazine as the world’s second-best welterweight, and by BoxRec as the second-best welterweight in the UK.
