Canelo Alvarez Boxing In Slow Motion
I suppose you are aware that there is another huge boxing match taking place in the coming months. As World Welterweight, Light middleweight, Middleweight titleholder Canelo Alvarez. Faces off against another World Champion and fan favourite Gennady Golovkin. In a superfight that has boxing purists going weak at the knees.
It’s a fight that has been spoken about for many years but just couldn’t seem to get going. Canelo at 27 has been a professional boxer since his early teens. Fighting many of the World’s greatest boxers throughout his career. With one of those was the p4p great Floyd Mayweather, who he faced when he was just 23 years old.
Facing Gennady Golovkin
Now four years later he faces another boxer many have in the very top of the p4p rankings in Gennady Golovkin. GGG as he is known to his fans. Is 8 years Alvarez’s senior and heading toward the end of a long and successful career. And finally with the Canelo fight, which fans and pundits alike had been calling for, for many years. And at 35, there is no doubting that the windows were closing quickly on the opportunity.
Now just 20 days after Mayweather vs McGregor, the World will finally get to see two of the best boxers in recent years finally go head to head. GGG has already made some loose comments about potentially retiring after this fight. But it is difficult to say if that will in any way play into the outcome.
For now, let’s look at what Canelo brings to the table in terms of ability and power inside the ring. Coming up against a man who is known for his KO ability. How will Alvarez’s power stack up against the bigger man? With a lower centre of gravity and sublime technique, it’s a thing of beauty to watch. And September 16th we find out if it is enough.
