ANDRE WARD ADVISES MCGREGOR TO STAY “AWKWARD”; LESS BOXING IS BETTER AGAINST FLOYD

Andre Ward Talks Mayweather vs McGregor

Fresh off his own recent victory of Sergey Kovalev. Boxing Champion Andre Ward had some boxing advice for UFC star Conor McGregor. Who will face Floyd Mayweather on August 26th in what is being sold as the biggest fight in combat sports history?  Ward has his own unique take and in many ways, it makes a whole lot of sense.

“To be honest with you, I think probably the less Conor learns and figures out from a boxing standpoint, probably the better...I would let him continue to have the awkward movements that he has…show this guy something he’s never seen before in terms of a style,”

When you really think about it, what will the Mayweather camp be expecting? They will expect a southpaw “boxer” with all the traditional movement, angles and punches they bring. But if McGregor stays more true to Mixed Martial Arts background. And utilises the different stance, angles and punches that, that brings. How will Floyd handle the big difference in style?

Money Mayweather is the best in the world at what he does. You take him out of that comfort zone of knowing what to expect. With a larger, more rangy and unorthodox man across from him in the ring. And who knows what fruits it may bear!

The undefeated light heavyweight champion Andre Ward knows his stuff. So if we should listen to anyone, perhaps it should be to another one of the greatest boxers to ever lace up a pair of gloves. Not long to go now before history is made as McGregor and Mayweather step into the ring. Live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas Nevada. Let us all hope that the reality lives up to the hype come August 26th.
